Along the East River: Brooklyn Bike Tour

Full day bike tour across the Brooklyn Bridge and along the East River through the boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens with spectacular views of Manhattan. The tour begins in Battery Park with Ben van Berkel’s New Amsterdam Pavilion and Fred Schwartz’ Whitehall Ferry Terminal. From Frank Gehry’s first high-rise cycle over the Brooklyn Bridge to the Promenade in Brooklyn Heights and to DUMBO, a neighborhood located under the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridge with many artist studios and galleries. The tour continues through the sleepy neighborhood of Vinegar Hill to the recently booming neighborhoods of Fort Greene and Clinton Hill with projects by Steven Holl, Hanrahan Meyers and David Adjaye, and through the Ultra-Orthodox Jewish South Williamsburg with religiously-influenced architecture to the new, rapidly developing East River promenade. From there it proceeds through Greenpoint to PS1, one of the oldest and largest non-profit contemporary art institutions in the US, converted by Frederick Fisher in Long Island City, Queens.
